We have updated our guidance to help care service providers with their inspections during 2010/11.  This update gives information about changes to our inspection process. 

We have made changes to how frequently and intensively we inspect care services. This means that better performing services receive less inspection activity. When we refer to ‘current inspection grades' we mean the last grade that a service has received for each Quality Theme.

Inspection Focus Area: Assuring Quality

We have committed to one Inspection Focus Area (IFA) for our inspections during 2010/11. It only applies to Care at Home services and combined Care at Home and Housing Support services. We will be using a sample approach for this IFA and CCOs will notify the providers that have been selected when they confirm the inspection visit details.

here are no IFAs for any other service type this year.
