What is an inspection?

We inspect every registered service.  The purpose of the inspection is to:

  • monitor the quality of care provided to people who use the service taking into account the National Care Standards and the Scottish Social Service Council Codes of Practice
  • confirm good practice
  • provide public information about the quality of care services locally and nationally
  • protect people who use care services by identifying poor practice and asking for action to be taken.

Providers know about the inspection process and should make the final inspection report available to everyone that uses their service, carers and relatives.  Inspection reports are also available in our care service list.
