What is an inspection report?

The Care Commission inspects every registered service on a regular basis to make sure that providers are meeting the National Care Standards and are working to improve the quality of care for those who use the service.

We produce an inspection report each time we inspect a service.  The inspection report provides information about:

  • The grades that the service has received
  • The type of service given and any improvements that have been implemented
  • How they have involved the people that use the service to help improve the quality of care
  • Any recommendations that we have made
  • Any requirements that the service must make to ensure they are meeting the standards required.

For any inspection carried out since 2005, the report is available to download via our Care Service List

If you are unable to find the inspection report that you are looking for, or you think there has been inspection since the date of the last report published you can request a copy by completing our online request form or contacting your local office

Joint inspections of services for children

Scottish Ministers requested that Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) lead the joint inspection of services for children beginning with child protection. The Services for Children inspection team at HMIE consists of a mix of permanent and seconded staff from other inspectorates including the Social Work Inspection Agency, the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care (Care Commission) and Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary as well as HMIE inspectors.  These joint inspection reports can be found on our care service list along with our own inspection reports
